Biggest outbound mistake I keep seeing

I've reviewed hundreds of outbound campaigns, and I keep seeing the same mistake.

They look at reply rate and make the whole decision from there.

High reply rate? Campaign is good.
Low reply rate? Campaign is bad.

That is too shallow.

A campaign can get replies and still create zero real pipeline.

A campaign can have fewer replies, but those replies can come from the exact people you want to speak with.

So before you celebrate or panic, read the full funnel.

What I would actually check

Start with four numbers.

Contacted
How many people did you actually reach?

If this is low, your problem may be list size, sending capacity, or sequence setup.

Reply rate
How many people reacted?

If this is low, look at targeting, deliverability, offer, and copy.

Positive reply rate
How many replies showed real intent?

A lot of replies mean nothing if they are coming from the wrong people.

Opportunities
Did any of this turn into pipeline?

This is the number that matters when the team wants revenue, not vanity metrics.

Channel breakdown matters the most

Email and LinkedIn should be tracked separately because each channel plays a different role in outbound.

If you only look at the combined number, you cannot tell which channel is actually working.

Track them separately so you can see where replies, positive replies, and opportunities are really coming from.
