Why good outreach still underperforms

It should have worked better.

Boring things killing your replies

I had a call last week with someone running a solid cold outreach motion. Good list. Decent copy. Multichannel. Replies were still underwhelming.

We went through everything.

The angle was fine.
The sequencing was fine.

Then I asked about their DNC setup.

Long pause.

That pause usually tells you a lot

It is rarely one big thing hurting performance.

It is usually the boring stuff nobody checks because it does not feel urgent.

A few names that should have been removed months ago, still active.
A prospect who already said no, back in a fresh sequence.
An unsubscribe that never made it back to the source list.

Each one looks small.

Why this actually matters

DNC setup has a direct impact on who enters campaigns, who should stay out, and how much unnecessary damage you create.

If DNC list is loose, the wrong people keep slipping in.

That means wasted volume, lower trust, more negative replies, and more damage than most people realize.

Good cold outreach is not just about who you add.

It is also about who you keep out.

One more thing

I am doing a live session with Deborah Stiernon from HubSpot for Startups on what a real outbound engine needs to drive more replies, more meetings, and more pipeline.

Generate Replies. Close Deals. Build a Real Outbound Engine.

That is it from me this week.

Before you rewrite your next sequence, check your DNC setup.
