The touch before the first touch
What happens before outreach
I got three cold pitches on LinkedIn this morning.
All three sent the pitch the moment I accepted the request.
I had no idea who any of them were.
I would have spent a week on their profile before sending anything.
Warm the profile first
Before I send anything, I put myself in front of them a few times.
Then the connection request lands from a name they have already seen.
Do not overdo it
Do not like five old posts or leave a forced comment. That looks desperate.
Keep it simple:
Visit their profile
Engage with something relevant
Send the connection request
Message them after they accept
You can also comment on posts from people your ICP already follows. A good comment can bring the right prospects to your profile before you contact them.
Give them another way to reply
I would not rely on LinkedIn alone.
Some prospects ignore the DM but reply to the email. Others read the email, check LinkedIn, and answer there.
That is why I prefer running email and LinkedIn together.
