Two weeks of sending into a folder nobody opens

A team sent me their numbers last week and asked why replies were flat.

Warmup was done. The mailboxes had history, activity, and a normal reply pattern.

So I ran a placement test on their live campaign.

Microsoft emails were landing in spam. Gmail was fine. And they had no idea.

A warmed mailbox can still land in spam

A fresh mailbox with no history should not send cold email on day one.

Warmup builds sending activity, receiving activity, and reply patterns so the inbox looks real before you start outreach.

But..

Warmup cannot save bad DNS, weak targeting, a risky list, spam-heavy copy, or volume you pushed too hard.

Delivered and landed are two different things

A delivered email can still sit in spam, promotions, or updates.

So the real question is where it ended up.

An inbox placement test shows where your emails land across providers.

If one mailbox is weak, pull it from the sender pool. If Microsoft is weak and Gmail is fine, fix the provider-specific issue before touching the copy. If placement is weak everywhere, check sender reputation, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, list quality, and complaint risk first.

Do not judge a campaign before you know where the emails landed.
